Healing from the Inside Out: A Somatic Approach to Therapy with Bethany Davis

There’s a moment in healing that no one really talks about. It’s when you’ve done the work—or at least, a lot of it. You’ve read the books. You’ve shifted the mindset. You’ve taken the brave steps forward. And yet… something still doesn’t feel right. You keep getting thrown off. You’re triggered by things you thought you had healed. You’re exhausted, even when nothing’s “wrong.”

That’s exactly where I was when someone close to me noticed my body responding in real time to a seemingly neutral situation. A man walked into a room, and even though I smiled and stayed calm, she could see it—my body flinched. I tensed. I checked out for a second. And she gently said to me, “Ash… how many times a day is your body doing that?”

That moment cracked something open. Because I realized I’d been doing a lot of mindset work, but I hadn’t yet gone into the body. I hadn’t truly touched the trauma that lived there. And that’s why I’m so excited to have Bethany Davis on the podcast this week.

Bethany is the founder of Entheon Somatics, and a somatic practitioner who helps leaders, visionaries, and high-performing women heal burnout and regulate their nervous systems in a deep, holistic way. She’s also someone I’ve had the privilege of working with personally—and our sessions together have shifted so much for me.

In this episode, you’ll hear:

  • How trauma and stress patterns get stored in the nervous system

  • Why somatic experiencing is essential for long-term transformation

  • The physiological reasons high-performing women burn out

  • How Bethany built Entheon Somatics to support executive and visionary leaders holistically

  • What it looks like to lead from an embodied, regulated, and resourced place

Your nervous system will either liberate you or limit you, and you get to choose.

Some Key Takeaways from the Episode:

1. You can’t think your way out of trauma. Some wounds live in the body. And when you try to “mindset” your way through a somatic response, you can end up feeling stuck, frustrated, or broken. (You’re not. You’re just dysregulated.)

2. Your body holds the score—and the solution. From tight jaws to womb space tension, the body tells the truth. Somatic healing is about listening to those signals and building safety, slowly and gently.

3. Leaders can’t lead from burnout. Bethany reminded me that we must address the trauma and stress patterns in our bodies if we want to lead with clarity, compassion, and presence. Leadership healing starts in the nervous system.

4. Somatic work creates lasting change. Since starting this work, I’ve noticed subtle—but powerful—shifts in how I respond to stress. There’s more space. More softness. More choice. That’s the magic.

5. There’s no shame in needing support. If you feel like you’ve “done it all” and still feel dysregulated—this episode is your reminder that there’s nothing wrong with you. You just might need a new kind of support. And that support is allowed.

If your body is not a safe place to live in, you cannot access your leadership from the heart.

If you’ve been feeling like your nervous system is running the show, or you’re craving deeper peace, presence, and regulation… I really encourage you to give this one a listen.

It’s real. It’s honest. And it’s full of truth I think more of us are ready to hear.

Unapologetically yours,
xx Ashley
